For the past week, everyday starting wiht the May 26. i have practised the same strict routine. I would first warm up with the Bb scale to warm up. I chose to do the D concert scale and study for the ISP. I would practise this for 10 mintues on the scale with the metronome. Then i wuold practise the Study, for 15 mintues wiht the metronome. Next i would move on to the arban klose books. I would practise this study for 10 mintues. I was having troubel witht the speed and the notes. SO i played it slowly and gradiually speed up. When i was done i wuodl take a break then come back and practise my Trio pieces. I would practise these for 10 mintues each. I didnt really have any difficulty with them. They seem pretty easy. However, my greatest challenge is playing it with the others cause we diont have a constant speed, and some always rush. This has been my practise routine for the past week.

Martin frost is a Swedish Clarientist. He is in ever-increasing demand to appear with major orchestras worldwide. He has been appointed artist in residence with the Hamburg and Gothenburg Symphony Orchestras as well as the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. He will also appear with the Orchestre National de Bordeaux Aquitaine as well as the Orquesta Sinfonica de Euskadi and the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla, the Czech Philharmonic and the Oslo Philharmonic.

When i was listening to the performace i like where it is located. The window shows snow, and wilderness, which reminds me of the clarinet sounds that he is making. It just seems to all fit togeather. He does like really funny when he plays, cause hes moving the Clarinet around so much. and he kinda looks consitpated, but thats kinda what i probaly look like to when i play it.

The range is beautiful,. and his clarity is perfect. his tone is good. Hes actually pretty good all togeahter. Theres really nothing wrong with his overall sound. He keeps up with this fellow players, and he is in time. i can get a key signature out of the song from him. The only thing that i didnt like was his posture and how he was moving the clairnet around, and not holding it in a proper position.

overal he is a great clarinetist!
Today i practised the Bb concert scale to warm up. Then i practised Chillers and thrillers line 143- 152 to help get the speed up with my metromone. I did this for about 10 mintues. Then i practised the 6 triplets. in measure10. This was difficult fo rmy in class. i did it slowly then sped up my pace. Next i continued on to the next measure 10- 14. i did the same thing for almost the same amount of time. Next i practised The last 4 bars. With all the 16th notes in the. I played it really slow getting the notes. Them i gradually sped up. I am no where close to the speed that we need to play it in class, but i am working on it. I practied these lines for 20 mintues. with a metronome.
This bog is for Monday May 7th. To warm up i used the Db concert scale. I practised line 1 and 3. I did this for roughly 5 mintues. Then i played thorugh the Scale skills really quickly. Next i had some trouble in class playing Chillers and Thrillers line 143- 152. This was giving me trouble in class for speed, and getting the notes correctly. i put on my metronome. and pratised with the skill if i messed up fo back to the beginning. I did this for roughly 15 minutes.

On Saturday April 24 i just pracised some scales out of the purple book. They were the G minor concert scale, lines 1 3 and te Corale. As a warm up since we did it for a playing test for Ms stinson. THis took me about 5 minutes. Next i played the F major concert scale. I played lines 1 and 3, then i did the scale study. When i was practising line 1 i played the really high notes for practise. then i played the low notes. This took me about 5 mintues. Since i ahd to work that day i didnt have enough time to practise anything else. So im happy that i even got to do the scales.
This post is for Thursday the 23rd. I did pretty muchthe same thing as yesturday with the Bb scale, then the cromatic scale. Taking me roofly 15 mintues. However i did bring home the holst. I practised line D. in movement 1. I pracitesed it with a metronome, gradually speeding up as i went along. This took ten minutes.
This blog is for Wedsnesday April the 22nd. i practised the Bb scale, lines 1 and 3 with the arpegio. Then i did the scale study. I did this to warm up which took 5 minutes. Next i did the 2nd line of the Cromatic scale, bcause i know i ahve difficulty going fast with it. So i put on my metronome and played it over and over again. Gradually speeding up. This took me roofly 10 minutes. After that i played russian sailors dance line 65 ( blue book) for something fun. This didnt take long.

This is my blog for yesturday. To warm up i practised the C concert scale. I practiced lines 1 and 3 for about 5 mintues. Then i focused more on the playing test that was assigned for tomrrow. I practised the same bars as yesturday. I did this for roughly 10 mintues. I did this with the one bar gaining method. Then i constantly played it though. When i was done practicing for the test, i just played through the 1st movement in holst as something fun. i did this twice through so it didnt take to long. about 2 mintues.

today i pracitsed the C concert scale to warm up, for about 3 mintues. I practised lines 1 and 3. Next i practised the 2 lines that i choose out for the test that we ahve on thursday. The easy line that i was going to do is In the 4th movement. the first 8 bars in C. The hard lines is in the 2nd movement. a bar right after A where there is lots of dynacmics, and a highnote that i can't hit for the life of me. So i think it will be a good challenge. I practised this for roughly 15 mintues. After taht to cool down, i practised the study taht we did in class the one in the Arban- Klose red book. It was the 4th movement. I had trouble in calss with the tempo, and getting all the notes. So i put on my metronome, and practised each line, then the nest plus the first one. I did that for a bout 10 minutes. Then i just ran though it twice.

this is for yesturday. I pracited the Corale that we have a test for on Friday. I did this for about 10 minutes. I was having a little trouble with the key signatures. So i practised the scale above it. I gradually sped up. I applyed that trick to teh corale doing each line at a time.
This is for yesturday. I pracitesed the corale that we have a playing test for on Friday. I pracited it for about 10 minutes. I was having trouble getting the key signature right, so i played the scale over a couple of times, then gradually sped up. I also applyed this to the corale. This was very usuful to practise the scale along with it.

Today i had dog training and didnt have a lot of time, but i did practise 'a' minor scale (for about 3 mintues) lines 1 and 3. I also practised on that page the scale study, which we did for a test. I played it throught twice. I pracitsed the 1, 2, and 3rd lines of the cromatic scale. I pracited it for about 5 minutes, then took a break because it was frusterating me, beucase of the sharps and flats. During my break i pracited some of pirates for about 5 minutes. I pracited the whole piece, and focused on lines 147 to 156. this was challenging for me in class so i figured it was worth praciting. Next, i returned to the cromatic scale, where i broke down the lines, and played each one once then continued to the next line. I continued this for about anouther 5 minutes.

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

For today, i practised my scales. I praticed the Bb (flat) concert scale, and the relative minor g scale. In the G minor scale i had some trouble playing the sharps on the way up and not on the way down. I also pracited the harmonic and melodic lines (lines 3,4). These lines were failry easy, but i did practice my tempo with a metronome going faster. The Bb scale was pretty easy. I did try the scale skills (line number 5) with some challenges in the register notes and keeping the tempo of the triplets.

I also pracited the 2nd suite. I practied in the 4th movement the tempo and speed of part C. This was challenging for me inclass becuase of the speed so i pracited with a metronome. I also pracised 7 bars before C, with the minor scale.
